Twenty-two prospective students, with church leaders and parents, were welcomed to the CSBS&C campus on Saturday, March 24 for a Preview Day Open House. Director of Admissions David Ong, who organized and emceed the event, was thrilled by the number and quality of those in attendance, who are seeking further equipping for ministry or to deepen their Christian faith.
CSBS&C President Dr. Rob Blackaby gave an inspiring devotion at the beginning of the day for the potential students, and a worship team of our current students from Toronto lead in meaningful worship. Student ambassadors Lee Janzen and Sam Augustin shared their stories of how God led them to study at the school and what he has been teaching them currently. Their stories were heart-felt and resonated well with the spirit of the event. The day also included a tour of the campus and the student housing, with information sessions explaining the college and seminary programs and ministry opportunities.
The prospective students, who came from as far as Saskatoon and as close as Cochrane, learned about the passion of the professors and staff for “training God-called men and women for 21st century leadership in tough places” (the CSBS&C vision). The warm and supportive community life was also showcased. One attendee stated: “I like how the president worded ‘seminary’ – to dig deeper. Out of all my explanations for what I’m looking for. It comes down to (that) I’d like to dig deeper! Learn more!”
Ong gave special thanks to the Midwest Baptist Association for providing the meal and prizes for the Open House, and also to the whole CSBS&C faculty and staff team for making the day a success.
